PHILIP1 FRENCH was born 03 March 1790 in KY, and died 31 March 1847 in Vermillion co. IN. He
married SARAH RANDALL on 12 August 1813 in Butler co. OH, daughter of FELIX RANDALL and
MALINDA ROBEY. She was born 08 October 1793 in Hardy co.VA, and died 10 September 1880 in
Vermillion co. IN
Felix Randall was living in Butler co. OH at the time of their marriage and moved to IN with them. The
oldest son, Warner, may have born in KY and it is very possible that they lived across the Ohio River
in their early married life. The river makes a big loop to the north in that area, making a part of KY
quite close to Butler co. However they definitely lived in Butler co. where the first three girls were
born.
They were in Vermillion co. IN in 1823 when Loves was born. Some of their childrens' names reflect
Sarahs' Randall family heritage. Phillip purchased and sold various parcels of land in Vermillion Co.
between 1828 and 1841. After his death in 1847, his estate was sold to Jacob Randall, his
brother-in-law. Philip is buried in Trowbridge Cem. Hillsdale IN.
Their children are listed in the probate document. Sarah maintained a home for a few years after his
death and is listed in the 1870 & 1880 census records in the household of her son, Felix Fielding
French, where she lived until she died. Her gravestone is very worn, making it difficult to read.
Some records indicate that she died in 1850; however this is not accurate. She died in 1880 and is
buried beside Phillip in the Trowbridge cemetery.
